Agriculture & Food

Larta helps Ag & Food innovators move from lab to market — supporting commercialization, funding, and pathways to scale.

Food and agriculture face mounting pressures: climate volatility, resource scarcity, and supply-chain instability—alongside rising global demand. Yet, it remains one of the most dynamic arenas for innovation, with breakthroughs in biotech, AI, and regenerative practices reshaping what’s possible.

The opportunity is clear, but so is the challenge. Early-stage ventures often struggle to secure the capital, validation, and partnerships needed to move from promising research to real-world adoption. That gap between innovation and impact is where Larta comes in.

Larta's Role & Impact Since 2009

Larta recognized the importance of food and agriculture innovation early. In 2009, we launched the Ag Innovation Showcase, one of the first national platforms dedicated to elevating breakthrough agricultural technologies and connecting them with investors, partners, and commercialization support.

Building on that foundation, our organization has since designed and managed national commercialization programs for the USDA, supporting federal awardees across the country. Our work has expanded to include specialized initiatives for small meat and poultry producers, urban and regional growers, and emerging ag-tech ventures.

Across these efforts, Larta helps move Ag & Food solutions from lab to market and pilot to scale, combining commercialization expertise, public-sector fluency, and global networks to accelerate adoption and impact.

How We Can Help

Commercializing the Future of Agriculture & Food

From climate-resilient crops and sustainable inputs to alternative proteins, soil health, and circular bio-economy solutions, ag & food innovators face a complex path from discovery to deployment. Larta helps founders, researchers, and public partners bridge that gap, turning promising science into scalable, market-ready enterprises that strengthen food systems and communities.

Each year, we support hundreds of founders and ventures through hands-on commercialization guidance, deep industry expertise, and access to capital, customers, and strategic partners. Our work spans the full innovation lifecycle, providing tailored support to help founders navigate federal funding, customer discovery, commercialization milestones, and more.

Where We Focus in Ag & Food
From Science to Systems Change

Larta’s Food & Ag work is grounded in real commercialization challenges and informed by decades of experience supporting innovations across agriculture, food, climate, and the bioeconomy.

We help innovators advance technologies that improve yields, soil health, nutrient efficiency, and climate resilience. Our support spans biologicals, fertilizers, crop genetics, and novel inputs, helping founders validate value propositions, engage growers, and navigate regulatory and market adoption pathways.

From low-carbon fertilizers and carbon-utilization technologies to sustainable feedstocks and alternative materials, we support companies addressing emissions, resource constraints, and cost pressures across agricultural production systems.

We help founders understand how their solutions integrate into complex food supply chains, supporting go-to-market strategies, customer discovery, pricing, partnerships, and pilot design with producers, processors, and distributors.

Larta works with innovators developing algae-based systems, plant-based materials, and circular solutions that intersect food, energy, water, and climate, helping translate interdisciplinary science into viable business models.
